Perth 2009, Day Two: Lit by Limelight!

Hey everyone! Well, today has been another great day. It being a Sunday, we didn't do much in the morning. Mostly I snoozed. And Judi and Justin snoozed and lounged about until about noon, arf. Then we had breakfast, watched some anime, had lunch (all according to the diet regime eating plan for Judi and me!), before heading out. First stop: Judi and Justin's plot of land, where their house is gonna get built. Here they are, all proud of their baby:

That's not their house. It's just the vacant land they're standing on.

Then we dropped by the church for me to say helloooo to the band! Yay! There was Anita and Dan and Clare and Christine and several others and some newbies, and we made plans to meet up later in the week. So yeah, that should be awesome.

Afterwards we headed to Murdoch Uni where Judi and I oooh'ed and aaah'ed at the changes the place has undergone, including the new Tavern that's now out front near the gym instead of tucked far away in the back where it used to be. Then I was dropping in to Nexus Theatre, where I was greeted warmly by Jenny, the show's director, before being led onstage to be introduced to the cast and crew. Cue cheers and applause, and me grinning too widely like an idiot. Oy.

Next, it was time to mingle in the foyer and to reunite with friends and acquaintances from not-too-long ago. It was pretty awesome seeing familiar faces all over again, from as far back as 2003. Among them, Melanie J, Mel M, Paul G, Kayti and Greg, Salmiyah, Andrew K, Sheryl H, Michelle, Serge Tampalini, Alexa T, Stan S... all of them just random names to most of you who might be reading this (all two of you), but good mates nonetheless. It was really wonderful seeing them again and remembering the various productions we'd worked together on. And we also made tentative plans to catch up over the week... so more on that as and when, aye??

And then we were off into the theatre for the world premiere of Lit by Limelight, with music by yours truly. I think we all had a pretty good time, even though, as Jenny herself said after the show, there are some tweaks that still need to be done (such as the music being a touch louder perhaps? Hehehe. Just a thought! *winks!*)... but the boys and girls in the show have about one week's worth of performances, twice daily, to get things on cue... so I'm looking forward to perhaps going back in next week to see how it shapes up! Yay!

Finally, Judi, Justin and I headed back to their place for dinner (I learnt how to cook paprika chicken, diet-style! Yummmm!) and some more anime (this morning it was My Neighbor Totoro; tonight it was Howl's Moving Castle; oy, who would've thought I'd enjoy it this much?? Debs and Scary Neek, who are big fans, should be thrilled. Or maybe not. Ah well. Either way!) before they hit the sack.

Now I'm stealing some online time on Justin's computer, but I'm yearning for the warm bedroom (have I mentioned it's freezing here? It's freezing here... just above 5 degrees, apparently), so I'm gonna leave you with some pics from Lit by Limelight, which I snapped as unobstrusively as possible with a camera perched on my lap. Enjoy!!

(This scene got one of the longest and loudest laughs of the night because of how wrong it looked. Oy vey. Children's theatre, folks. Children's theatre.)
